Today during a SoulCycle class master instructor Kym Perfetto yelled out serious motivation with sticking power.
“Skinny is over-rated but hot is not!” the ripped Kym screamed as she proceeded to tell us about how she hates when people equate working out to punishing themselves for enjoying a delicious dessert. This is a girl after my own heart. Let’s face it, y’all; life is hard and short. There just isn’t enough time to get all wrapped up in what you shouldn’t. The time to enjoy is now. Let’s work it out and then go and have lunch!
After class I went home and began a sunday baking spree. I had cookies on me mind. And the only way to satisfy a cookie craving is by baking a batch, of course! Continue reading
Today started with this guy while I was eating
then we rode bikes, like rode all over manhattan, no lie
pit stop to play with this guy
and then I fell off my bike. Bruised….but happy.
Brunch conjures up images of pancakes drowning in butter and syrup, light and fluffy french toast, eggs over easy on top of greasy home fries, DONUTS!
But brunch can be a simpler affair, if it so desires.
Multigrain toast topped with scrambled egg whites served beside blanched green beans and a baked sweet potato with a piece of pepperjack cheese for flavor. It’s amazing how different a meal such as this makes you feel as compared to a lumberjack special at the local diner.
Easy afternoons call for easy tropical smoothies:
1 small kiwi
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup diced pineapple
1/2 cup plain yogurt
touch of honey
3 ice cubes
splash of milk
Blend until icy and smooth. Enjoy while blasting your favorite cheesy pop music because in the words of the poetic R. Kelly, “It’s the freakin’ weekend baby I’m about to have me some fun.”
Yesterday was a rainy day….like seriously, it poured from noon until we fell asleep.
So we made the best of it. We grabbed bagels and ate them in bed watching the best movie in the world x 1000 million, and no it’s not up for discussion, Moulin Rouge. We worked on wedding invitations. We read books (or tried to anyway). We sang loudly. Sorry neighbors! Continue reading

It’s been a busy week in the blogsphere for yours truly. What will follow is a series of shameless self promotions, but then what exactly is a blog if not just that!

Happy Weekend, my friends.
I apologize for the lack of photo in this post but my smoothie was so delightful I sort of gulped it back and kept going. It’s a big day for me. And big days call for balanced breakfasts (and some ginger ale to help with the butterflies in the tummy business).
Sweet Potato Bluberry Banana Smoothie For a Big Day
1/3 baked sweet potato
1 small banana
1/4 cup blueberries
1 handful spinach
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoon rolled oats
1/2 tablespoon peanut butter
Pinch of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon
Blend until the smoothie reaches desired consistency. Enjoy, but go slowly, brain freeze still hurts!
Let me tell you a little tale. It involves a single girl, a Thursday evening, and a sandwich. It goes a little something like this.
One sunny Thursday evening, after a day of work and a handful of errands, a young girl returned to her apartment ready for a quiet evening spent with her fiancée. She busied herself with some chores, a little this, a little that, until the phone rang at 6:30 p.m. Continue reading
two thick slabs of lightly toasted and delicately buttered bread, moist, dense, and bursting with banana flavor
supremely moist, exquisitely light, and every bit as fluffy as a proper pancake should be—no condiments needed
Golden brown cake leading into a light custard layer, all atop a buttery, flaky handmade pie crust, sweet not sugary, tart not lemony, and with a dash of nutmeg-pie perfection
